Ahhh pop-punk music — the soundtrack to our youth. Back in the day we spent all of our time jamming out and singing a long to these angsty tunes that — at the time — seemed to just understand us. There was something about the pop-punk genre that felt so real and relatable.
To this day we still listen to those bands as if we were teenagers, and look back on our experiences that formed our attachment to the genre. While we’re not “just kids” anymore, Simple Plan, Sum 41 and the rest of them still have a place in our hearts.
However, behind the music and lyrics, were the band members who stole our hearts with their skinny jeans, angelic voices and angst. The boys whose posters covered our bedroom walls — the ones we begged our parents to let us see live. The piercings, the tattoos the bangs — how could we really resist? We never could quite kick our attachment to these kick ass singers and musicians who made us feel like our awkward high school years were universal.
These are the pop-punk heartthrobs that we never stopped falling for.
Brendon Urie (Panic! At The Disco)
Still hot in heels…don’t judge us.$
Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World)
He wrote “Hear You Me”….how are we not supposed to be in love with him?
Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy)
Getting better with age … like a fine wine
Joel & Benji Madden (Good Charlotte)
Good Charlotte groupies for LYFE.
Pierre Bouvier (Simple Plan)
We’re convinced Pierre is a vampire — he hasn’t aged a day. He’s still “Just A Kid” and we just can’t seem to fall out of love with him.
Travis Barker (Blink 182)
You guys know how much we love our drummers…
Andrew McMahon (Jack’s Mannequin)
From something corporate, to Jack’s Mannequin, to Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness — this guy’s had our hearts for as long as we can remember.
Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects)
No teen movie in the mid 2000s was complete without an All American Rejects song. The good ol’ days…
Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day)
If American Idiot wasn’t your entire young adulthood, where have you been?
Ryan Key (Yellowcard)
We’d go back to “Ocean Avenue” with him any damn day.
